Ultram ( Tramadol ) capsule

Tramadol is the generic name for a prescription pain reliever sold under the brand names Ultram, Conzip, Rybix ODT, and Ultram ER.

Tramadol comes as a tablet, and as an extended-release tablet or capsule to treat around-the-clock pain.
It's in a class of pain drugs called opiate narcotic analgesics, which work by changing the way your brain responds to pain. It may increase levels of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and serotonin.
Ultracet is a combination drug, made from tramadol and acetaminophen.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved tramadol in 1995 for the drug company Janssen Pharmaceuticals under the brand name Ultram.
In 2002, the FDA approved a generic version of tramadol, which many companies now manufacture.
A 2014 study suggested that giving tramadol to people before surgery may help ease post-anesthesia shivering - a common complication that develops in people recovering from general anesthesia.

Duloxetine Cymbalta capsule

Cymbalta is the brand name for duloxetine, an antidepressant prescribed to treat the symptoms of depression.
In addition to depression, doctors can prescribe Cymbalta to treat anxiety that lasts for at least six months, pain from diabetic nerve damage, fibromyalgia, and long-term muscle or bone pain.
Cymbalta is in a class of medications called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs).
It works by increasing the levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine, which help regulate mood and may block pain signals traveling through the brain.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved duloxetine in 2004 under the brand name Cymbalta for the Lilly drug company.
In 2013, the FDA announced that it had approved generic versions of duloxetine for several drug companies.
Cymbalta could also help ease pain associated with osteoarthritis, according to a study published in the International Journal of Clinical Practice in 2012.
The researchers noted that use of Cymbalta could result in fewer side effects than the drugs traditionally used for the condition, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, which can lead to gastrointestinal bleeding, and opioids like morphine, which often lead to constipation.
They concluded that doctors may consider adding antidepressants, such as Cymbalta to the treatment regimens for patients with osteoarthritis.

The drug is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, such as cat-scratch disease, ear infections, infections of the skin or surrounding tissue, and throat or tonsil infections.
Azithromycin is also used to treat lung and other respiratory infections, such as bronchitis, sinusitis, community acquired pneumonia, some cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and whooping cough (pertussis).
Doctors may also prescribe azithromycin for genital infections and sexually transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhea, infections of the urethra or cervix, genital ulcers, and severe pelvic inflammatory disease.
Azithromycin belongs to group of drugs known as macrolide antibiotics. They work by preventing bacteria from making their own proteins.
As with other antibiotics, to prevent the spread of drug-resistant infections, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) strongly advises doctors to prescribe the drug only when there is proof, or a strong suspicion, that the infection is caused by bacteria against which azithromycin is effective.
The FDA first approved azithromycin under the brand name Zithromax in 1991. Pfizer Pharmaceuticals manufactures the drug.

Levothyroxine can help reverse these symptoms. The drug can also help treat the congenital form of hypothyroidism, as well as an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter) and thyroid cancer.
Levothyroxine has been available in the United States since the 1950s, but the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) didn't approve it until 2000.

Zocor Simvastatin tablets

What Is Zocor (Simvastatin)

Zocor is the brand name of simvastatin, a prescription drug used to lower blood cholesterol.
Zocor belongs to a class of drugs known as statins, also called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.
Statins reduce cholesterol levels in your blood by blocking an enzyme needed to make cholesterol, as well as increasing the number of low-density lipoprotein (LDL or "bad" cholesterol) receptors in the liver, so the liver can process more of the LDL found in your blood.
By lowering cholesterol, statins help to prevent the buildup of plaque in blood vessels, which can lead to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), heart disease, and stroke.
Statins are used to help prevent heart disease in those who don't have it but are at risk, and in those who have already had some form of cardiovascular disease, such as a stroke or heart attack.
Your doctor will prescribe Zocor along with suggesting a healthy diet, weight loss if you need it, and exercise to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other problems.
Zocor, manufactured by Merck & Co., was approved by the Food and Drug Association (FDA) in 1991. The FDA approved the first generic version of simvastatin in 2006, and now many companies offer the generic version.
Zocor is offered in a tablet form or a disintegrating tablet form.

Prilosec Zegerid omeprazole tablets

What is omeprazole, and how does it work (mechanism of action)?

Omeprazole is in a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPI) that block the production of acid by the stomach. Other drugs in the class include lansoprazole (Prevacid), rabeprazole (Aciphex), pantoprazole (Protonix), and esomeprazole (Nexium). Proton pump inhibitors are used for the treatment of conditions such as ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, which are all caused by stomach acid. Omeprazole, like other proton-pump inhibitors, blocks the enzyme in the wall of the stomach that produces acid. By blocking the enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this allows the stomach and esophagus to heal. Zegerid contains omeprazole and an antacid (sodium bicarbonate). The FDA approved omeprazole in September 1989.

What brand names are available for omeprazole?

Prilosec, Zegerid, Prilosec OTC, Zegerid OTC

Glucophage (metformin) tablets

What is Glucophage?

Glucophage is used to help control blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It reduces the symptoms that are caused by high blood sugar and, by doing so, prevents damage to the body. If you would like to order Glucophage online, Dokteronline.com’s partner pharmacies will be happy to assist you.

What is Glucophage used for?

Type 2 diabetes is a form of diabetes that develops when the liver and muscles become resistant to insulin. As a result the pancreas needs to produce more insulin than it would normally need to. If the pancreas can no longer produce enough insulin to bring down sugar levels, the body cannot break down the sugars that are in the food that we eat. This causes blood sugar levels to rise and as a consequence the symptoms of diabetes (thirst, dry mouth, increased need to urinate and fatigue) will begin to appear. In the long term, high blood sugar can damage blood vessels and organs. As time goes on, this damage causes serious complications. Glucophage decreases the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood. It reduces the symptoms of diabetes and so minimises the chance of complications.

Vasoserc Betahistine Hydrochloride tablets

Betahistine (Serc) is a popular medicine that is prescribed to treat a variety of complaints. The main indication for taking Betahistine is to treat patients with Ménière’s disease, however many patients take Betahistine to relieve other symptoms, such as vertigo, dizziness, and tinnitus.
Good evidence to support the use of Betahistine for the treatment of Ménière’s disease is severely lacking despite its common use. About five years ago a scientific study was performed in China to evaluate the potential benefits of Betahistine for tinnitus patients. The results of this study demonstrated a reduction in the loudness of tinnitus when using special hearing tests to assess tinnitus loudness, but when questionnaires were used to assess whether the subjects felt that their tinnitus was quieter, or whether the impact of tinnitus on their life was reduced, no improvements could be satisfactorily demonstrated. The results of this study, to some degree, are interesting, however this type of study has not been replicated in either China, or anywhere else in the rest of the world. Only a summary of this study has been reproduced in English, so I have written to the authors for clarification of the methods used and some more details regarding the study findings, but unfortunately I am still waiting for a reply.
